Press release on "Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Lecture Series"

Date:2020-07-11

In view of the lack of knowledge in the frontier knowledge of civil engineering in our school, Professor Song Bo of School of Civil and Resource Engineering invited well-known foreign professors to give "the frontier knowledge of disaster prevention and Reduction".

Professor Chu Jinho from Korea Infrastructure Safety Company has been devoted to the research of tunnel disaster prevention and reduction for many years, focusing on explaining the advanced instruments and technologies of tunnel disease detection and tunnel repair to students. The topics covered include "Tunnel disease detection techniques" and "Tunnel disease heft."

Professor Kim Tae-hwan of South Korea's Longren University took Samsung super high rise building as an example, summarized the disaster situation that super high rise building may involve, explained the problems existing in the process of South Korea's urbanization, and proposed the corresponding disaster prevention and refuge measures. The topics covered include "South Korea Samsung Super high Level shelter Construction" and "South Korea Samsung Super high level disaster prevention countermeasures".

Professor Yan Li from BC Power of Canada introduced the typical disaster characteristics in geotechnical engineering field in recent years and proposed the seismic design method based on geotechnical performance, which enabled students to have a deeper understanding of relevant knowledge in geotechnical engineering field. Topics covered included "Canadian Geotechnical Disaster Investigation" and "North American practice of performance-based geotechnical seismic design methods".

Based on the reform of seismic design code in Japan and the anti-isolation measures adopted in the seismic design of structures, Professor Atsushi Takada of Kobe University introduced the experience and lessons of Seismic design in Japan after the Hanshin Earthquake. Topics covered include "Seismic Standard 1 after the Hanshin Earthquake, Japan" and "Seismic Standard 2 after the Hanshin earthquake, Japan".

Professor Haoyuan Xu of Yokohama National University in Japan explained how to quickly transmit the situation of disaster prevention facilities in the community to the residents through computers and the Internet, so that the residents can get quick refuge in case of disaster. At the same time, it introduces his understanding of related concepts of disaster prevention informatization to help students better understand disaster prevention informatization. The topics covered include "disaster prevention informatization lecture 1" and "Disaster prevention informatization lecture 2".

The "disaster risk reduction knowledge series" has a good effect. The series of lectures not only deepens the communication between teachers and students of our school and foreign experts in related fields, but also broadens the international vision of our students and enables them to have a deeper understanding of the current frontier knowledge in the field of disaster risk reduction of civil engineering. At the same time, the graduate students asked the experts about the problems in the opening report and the interim report, and the experts answered the students' questions carefully, which helped the students solve the related scientific research problems.
