Biography/ Background

Associate professor Sun Jinhai has more than 30 years’ experience in academic research, teaching and administration and in consulting to industry. His research interests include roadway support; open pit slope support; soft foundation treatment of highway; and the design of slope protection and the stability analysis of slope.

Recent work has focused on the stability monitoring and analysis of roadways, slopes and subgrade; for tunnel seismic prediction; and for the tunnel lining detection.

He was elected to the director of the laboratory center of Department of Resources Engineering.

He chaired and participated in more than 50 scientific research projects.

He has published over 20 papers and parts of books in the fields of roadway support, mining methods and soft foundation treatment of highway. He was awarded several Prizes for Scientific and Technology progress, including: Three First Class Prize and four Second Class Prizes for STP of the provincial and ministerial levels.
