Brief Bio:
Liu Yang is currently professor of Civil Engineering in Department of Civil and Resource Engineering at USTB. Professor Liu, a national registered geotechnical engineer, specializes in soil mechanics, DEM analysis, soil liquefaction and soil micromechanics. He received the Ph.D. degree in Geotechnical Engineering from Tongji University in 2006. He became a lecturer of USTB the same year and got promoted to associate professor in 2008. As a scholar, he took a one-year academic visit cooperated with professor C S Chang at the University of Massachusetts in 2011. He won many honors and awards recent years, including, among others, New Century Excellent Talent, Beijing Higher Education Young Elite Teacher and Beijing Excellent Talent. He currently serves as a communication judge of National Natural Science Foundation of China and Natural Science Foundation of Beijing, and as an independent reviewer of several journals.
He has undertaken several government sponsored research projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China, National High-tech R&D Program of China (863 Program), and Programs Foundation of Ministry of Education of China, etc., and more than 30 enterprise cooperated projects involving foundation treatment, slope reinforcement, stability analysis of tunnel and slope, natural environment management, etc. Professor Liu has published more than 60 academic papers in Chinese or foreign journals and conferences. He is also the author of 3 textbooks and 3 books.
