Academic Activities

The school closely focuses on the strategy of "Talents make the school strong", actively integrates both domestic and international resources, explores international scientific and technological cooperation methods, and transforms from a general personnel exchange and project cooperation to a "project-base-talent" combination model to improve the level of the college's international scientific and technological cooperation.

The school has established cooperative relations with more than 20 universities and research institutions in the United States, Japan, Australia, Britain, Sweden, Canada, Russia, Ukraine and other countries. More than 30 teachers of the college hold important academic positions in academic institutions at home and abroad. At present, there are four national second-level societies affiliated with the school, namely: the Mining Professional Committee of the Chinese Metal Society, the Education Committee of the Chinese Rock Mechanics and Engineering Society, the CAD and CAM Academic Committee of the Metallurgical Automation Society, and the Process Petrology Major of the Chinese Silicate Society Committee; one international society, namely: Asia Pacific International Fluid Enclosure Society.

On June 16, 2017, the 20th International Symposium on Paste Filling and Tailings Density,(the 3rd International Symposium on Paste Filling and Mining in China)was grandly held. This is the first time this series of seminars has been held in Asia. This conference was co-organized by our school and the Australian Rock Mechanics Center (ACG), jointly organized by Jinchengxin Group Co., Ltd. and Flying Wing Co., Ltd. Academicians Gu Desheng,Cai Meifeng, Yu Runcang attended the meeting. Academician Yu Runcang, Professor Andy Fourie, and Professor Lionel Pullum, an honorary researcher of the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization of Australia, were invited to give a special report. In addition, nearly 500 experts and scholars from 14 countries including China, Russia, the United States, Canada, Australia, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Poland, Finland, South Africa, Nigeria and Chile participated in the meeting. The theme of this conference is "Innovation of Paste and Green Mining", which discusses the two directions of paste filling and tailings concentration, and shows the cutting-edge results and successful experience from theoretical research to practical application.

From June 26 to 28, 2017, the "8th International Conference on Mining Sustainable Development" was successfully held. This conference was hosted by our school, China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing) and Liaoning University of Engineering and Technology. The conference received 92 abstracts and 70 full texts, 51 international peers participated in the review, and 49 papers were selected into the conference proceedings. The anthology has been formally published in the form of online open access for the readers of open access (OA). At the meeting, 45 experts and scholars from more than 30 colleges, scientific research institutes and enterprise units made special reports. The attendance rate of the whole meeting was high, filled with a strong academic atmosphere, and was highly praised by the participants.

In 2017, the school received visits and exchanges from Monash University, the University of Western Australia, the University of New South Wales, the Colorado School of Mines, and the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in Australia. Our school actively organized representatives of teachers from various departments to participate in the discussion and exchanges, and reached a number of joint research projects eventually.
