The Lab Center of School of Civil and Resource Engineering, University of Science and Technology Beijing was founded in December 2005. It is jointly established by all the laboratories under the school, involving many subjects such as civil engineering, mining engineering, safety engineering, mineral processing engineering, architectural environment and energy engineering and so on, providing experiment (tests) of practical teaching and research services for undergraduates, graduate students, doctoral students, and post-doctoral students, as well as scientific research and teaching services for other units.

For many years, the Lab Center has always inherited the fine tradition of “scientific style of study and advocating practice” of the University of Science and Technology Beijing, and has practiced the school motto of “Seeking Truth and Innovation”. With the goal of cultivating talents possess a solid professional foundation, independent hands-on ability, and active innovative thinking. The theoretical knowledge is closely combined with experimental research, enabling students to deepen their understanding of classroom knowledge in the process of operation, highlighting the cultivation of students' innovative spirit and practical ability.

There are currently 19 full-time teachers in the Lab Center of the School of Civil and Resource Engineering. Each year, it undertakes 25 experimental teaching courses, 89 experimental projects, and receives 21,820 man times. While completing normal teaching tasks, the experimental teaching center also has strong experimental research capabilities. In the past five years, the staff of Lab Center has participated in more than 300 projects, obtained more than 10 patents, published more than 200 papers, participated in the compilation of more than 20 textbooks, and won more than 50 teaching and research awards. Lab Center has laid a solid foundation for the construction of domestic first-class and internationally renowned high-quality innovative personnel training bases and high-level research colleges.

The Lab Center has 40 laboratories, with an actual use area of about 3500m2, more than 100 sets of large-scale equipment, more than 4,000 sets of general equipment, and a total equipment value of nearly 100 million RMB.
