Resources Engineering

Introduction to Resources Engineering

The Department of Resources Engineering (formerly the Department of Mining Engineering) was founded in 1952 and is one of the earliest departments in our university. "Mining Engineering" is a national key discipline. In 1981, the first batch of doctoral degree authorization points was approved. In 1986, the first batch of "mining engineering" postdoctoral mobile stations was established. In 2003, Key Laboratory of Ministry of Education for Efficient mining and Safety of Metal Mines was constructed. In 2017, it entered the ranks of "first-class discipline" construction.

Research Fields

Relying on the first-class discipline of "mining engineering" and the national key discipline of "mining engineering", the department closely focuses on the national major strategic demand for the development and utilization of metal mineral resources, aims at the forefront of mining engineering discipline, and aims to solve the outstanding problems affecting the safe and efficient mining of mines. At present, the Department has formed four research directions: deep rock mechanics and engineering, theory and technology of green and efficient mining of metal mines, theory and technology of digital mines, theory and technology of mine disaster prevention and control.

Scientific Research

In recent years, the Department has completed more than 50 key research and development programs, natural science funds and other topics, more than 1000 provincial and ministerial level and enterprise cooperation projects, with an average annual scientific research funding of about 40 million yuan. It has won 1 second prize of National Natural Science, 5 second prize of scientific and technological progress, 1 third prize of technological invention, more than 70 provincial and ministerial awards, produced more than 60 textbooks and monographs, published more than 100 patents and more than 1000 SCI / EI retrieval papers.

Faculty

The department has 38 faculty members, including 16 professors and 10 associate professors; there are 34 teachers with doctorate degrees, 16 teachers under the age of 45, and 22 teachers with foreign education or learning experience. The department has one innovation team from the Ministry of Education, one academician from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, a distinguished professor from the Yangtze River Scholars of the Ministry of Education, a national distinguished youth and an outstanding youth fund winner, and other well-known experts in the field of mining engineering.

Cooperation

The department recruits international students and sends students to well-known foreign universities for joint training and exchanges; establishes Finnish summer practice, signs "2+2" and "1+3" undergraduate joint training agreements with New South Wales and McGill University, and summer lectures by foreign experts , Young teachers go abroad to study, etc., vigorously promote international cooperation and exchanges.

Tailings Paste Disposal Technology Research Center

In order to adapt to the country's major strategy of developing green mines and seize the commanding heights of the mining engineering discipline, in 2012, University of Science & Technology, Beijing(USTB) established the "Tailing Paste Disposal Technology Research Center". Professor Wu Aixiang served as the director of the center, including 17 other full-time and part-time staff. Based on the practice and application of tailings paste disposal, the center conducts research around the elements in the tailings paste disposal system, involving majors including: mining engineering, mineral processing engineering, environmental engineering, fluid mechanics, safety engineering, geotechnical mechanics, disaster prevention and mitigation Engineering and protective engineering. The establishment of the research center is of great significance for studying the basic theory and key technologies of tailings paste disposal. The main research directions include: tailing cementitious material and its additive performance, paste mechanical properties and safety research, tailing dense dehydration and paste preparation technology, paste pipeline transportation and pipeline wear, paste discharge and compaction consolidation technology, tailing paste disposal numerical simulation technology. At present, the center has undertaken more than 10 subjects related to paste, including the national science and technology support plan for the 12th Five Year Plan, the innovation team funding project of the Ministry of education, etc., and the existing research results has won 4 national or provincial science and technology awards, 6 authorized patents, and published more than 40 academic works
