Introduction of Mineral Processing Engineering
Minerals Engineering in the University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB) is the sub-discipline of Mining Engineering, which is the Double First-Class Discipline in China. Minerals Engineering is the national key discipline and was authorized to confer the Master’s degree in 1979 and Doctoral degree in 1995, and it has already set up a workstation for the postdoctoral researchers. After more than half a century, it has developed into a new research field consisting of multiple engineering technologies, including minerals processing, mineral material, mineral microorganisms, comprehensive utilization of mineral resources, mining environment pollution and treatment.
Research Fields
The key research areas of Minerals Engineering are the efficient and clean utilization of complex refractory non-ferrous metallic mineral resources and the beneficiation-metallurgy integration of refractory ferrous metallic mineral resources. Minerals Engineering has become a discipline based on multidisciplinary study, devoted to utilizing the mineral resources efficiently and cleanly and characterized by basic theoretical study and technology development.
Scientific Research
The Department of Minerals Engineering has obtained a lot of research achievements and rewards in the field of minerals processing, including the publication of more than 20 academic monographs and textbooks and hundreds of research articles. In addition, the Department of Minerals Engineering has undertaken and completed lots of scientific research projects, such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Science and Technology Project, and the provincial and ministerial key scientific research projects. Amongst them, many research achievements have reached the international or domestic first-class level. The average annual research funding is nearly 10 million RMB.
Faculty
There are 20 full-time teaching staff in the department of Minerals Engineering, including 6 professors, 7 associate professors, 7 lecturers (postdoctoral). 19 of them have the Doctoral degree and many staff have the experience of overseas study. The job title, education background, age and knowledge of the faculties are reasonable. All the staff have corporate technical service or working experience and are experienced in engineering practice.
